1-DAY ACUVUE®
TRUEYE™ Designed to enable existing
wearers to upgrade without being refitted, 1-DAY ACUVUE® TRUEYE contact lenses
is the world's first silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lens. Until now
(June 2008) contact lens practitioners have had to choose between prescribing a daily disposable
or a
silicone hydrogel lens for their patients.
Daily disposable lenses have fewer complications (inflammatory, allergic, or
toxic) and are ideal for patients who want an irregular wearing schedule for
sports or social events. In 2007 daily disposables accounted for 46% of new
contact lens fittings in the UK. Silicone hydrogel lenses on the other hand,
have vastly superior oxygen transmissibility, which allows the cornea to breathe
naturally through the material of the contact lens - the benefit of which is
healthier whiter eyes and the removal of a medical side effect
of wearing contact lenses - corneal hypoxia. 1-DAY ACUVUE® TRUEYE are made from Narafilcon A
- an innovative silicone hydrogel material saturated with a locked-in super
smooth wetting agent
which does not slow release onto the eye. This distinction from other
daily disposables is important since a recent change for manufacturers is to include chemical
additives into the material of daily disposables which were previously additive-free.
1-DAY ACUVUE TRUEYE contact lenses allow your eyes
to breathe normally with the convenience and hygiene of
daily disposability. The cost savings of eliminating the need for cleaning
solutions in conjunction with the minimal replacement cost when lost or damaged
and the convenience of web ordering (paying only for what is used)
will have immediate appeal. For patients and the profession 1-DAY ACUVUE
TRUEYE is a great step forward as existing ACUVUE contact lens wearers
upgrading to 1-DAY ACUVUE TRUEYE will benefit from zero long term complications.
1-DAY ACUVUE TRUEYE are the only daily disposable contact lens on the market
with a built-in class 1 (the highest) UV filter to routinely protect the inside of
the eye from damaging UV light. Wearing this contact lens for years should lower
the risk of developing cataracts although sunglasses are still required to
protect the white of the eye. |
